Culture

The unique aura of the castle interiors with magnificent Gothic vaults, picturesque scenery
of the courtyard, recesses of the ward – all these create an atmosphere of irresistible enchantment.
No wonder the castle has become a favourite place
of many famous artists. It was here that Franciszek Starowieyski, Chromy, Biskupska, Majewski or
Dudziński worked and exhibited their works.

Artistic events initiated by Boleslaw Marschall - a sculptor and a long-standing host of the castle - are organized and promoted by the Cultural Association ZAMEK and by the Association for Support of Warmia and Mazury Cultural Output from Düsseldorf. For some years now this activity has been widely extended. A cyclic event called Fine Arts Days is arranged to introduce various forms of artistic activity: fine arts, music, literature, dance, and theatre. The event is primarily attended by artists from Poland and Germany.

The castle also houses the Gallery of Modern Art (branch of the Museum of Warmia and Mazury),
where you can see works of the most famous Polish and foreign artists.
At present the gallery exibits the recent acquisitions of the Warmia-Mazury Fine Arts Society ZACHETA
