Option II is a little shorter (235 km). From Pułtusk make for Szczytno and Biskupiec (road no. 57). In Biskupiec you also have two possibilities – you can go via Bęsia (road no. 596 – 33 km) or via Leginy (no. 590 – 35 km). The route via Leginy and Łężany is more picturesque. There is one more option to travel from Warsaw. This route is the longest one (316 km) but also the quickest, especially in high season. Take road no. 7 to Gdańsk via Nidzica. In Nidzica make for Szczytno (road no. 545) and in Jedwabno turn towards Pasym. In Pasym take road towards Dźwierzuty. The roads are better than they appear on a map. When you travel from Gdańsk you also have two options – follow main roads via Ostróda and Olsztyn (245 km) or you can take more picturesque and shorter side roads via Lidzbark Warmiński (192 km). The longer route is quite simple. Take road no. 7 towards Warsaw. When you reach Ostróda, turn left into road no. 16 and via Olsztyn make for Biskupiec. When you choose the other option, leave road no. 7 when you reach Pasłęk and turn towards Lidzbark Warmiński. Follow road no. 513 to Wozławki and turn left towards Bisztynek. You will reach Reszel after 18 km. train If you choose to travel by train get off at Olsztyn Główny and take a bus to Reszel (railway and bus stations are near each other). If you make earlier arrangement we can provide transport from Olsztyn to the castle. |
